Commitment to the Community Because we live in a fragile environment, businesses need to add environmental and social achievements to their measures of success. I have thought about the long-term implications of the homes and vehicles I insure. As a result, I purchase carbon offset credits from The Climate Trust on behalf of all new policyholders. This is my gift to new clients helping them take a small step to counteract the global warming implications of our lifestyles. Carbon offset credits are not the answer to climate change but they do provide a first step toward how we can reduce our emissions. Why not choose an insurance option that will do more than just save you green; it will give green back to helping create a sustainable future. What is a Carbon Offset?
A carbon offset is an investment in a project that reduces the impact of human activities on climate change. Carbon offsets come in a variety of projects some of these projects would include: removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, improving habitat, watersheds and water quality; reducing soil erosion; and preserving biodiversity. What can you do about your Carbon foot print? To estimate how much annual carbon dioxide results from your day-to-day activities and learn more about carbon offsets please visit at www.carboncounter.org.
Why was the Climate Trust chosen?
The Climate Trust has established itself as a leader in the offset market and is one of the largest and most experienced offset buyers in the U.S. and the world. The organization focuses on implementing projects that reduce the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and to date has contracted for projects worth $8.9 million that will offset 2.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide which is the equivalent to removing more than 300,000 cars from the road for one year. **Information provided through The Climate Trust website www.climatetrust.org
